15 Apr 10 ~ My First Birthdae!

It's my birthday!!! Like, finally finally FINALLYYYY.

Daddy told me that actually his and Mummy's colleagues wanted to have a huge birthday bash for me with a big number one cake and everything. I'm not too sure what the bash part means, though. It sounds a little violente.

Aniway, the parentals wanted to keep it a small warm family gathering instead (alldough I wouldn't call our family gatherings SMALL) so they just ordered a whole lot of food to cover our entire mah-mam table and invited our relatives over.

Por Por Susan and Uncle Daniel came from out-of-town (KL)...
The grand-uncles and grand-aunts came from uptown (home/school)...
The gu-gus and shu-shus came from downtown (work)...

And then after dinner (I was playing in the room while they ate outside because I was abit overwhelmed by everything...the house was SoosoOoo noisy! People talking, TV showing Ninja Turtles or Ninja Warriors or dono what, unfamiliar faces peppered among the more familiar family faces..), Mummy and the gu-gus got really excited in the kitchen, making a big whoo-haa.

Someone was carrying me, but from behind. And very SILENTLY, I might add. She never once turned me around to face her and when we stood in front of the mirror, she would hide her face behind me so I couldn't see who it was. So I gave up and just looked around and joined in the clamor.

I heard muffled squeals from the kitchen and there were camera flashes and excited voices..

And then everyone started singing very loudly, "happiiii birthdaeee tew yuuuuu!"...

And I realized they were all looking at me...

And then Mummy came walking out from the kitchen, flanked by the two gu-gus, carrying something...

And they all turned to look at her..

And then I saw...
MY CAKE.

Isn't it c-u-t-e-?-?-?

Someone strapped something on top of my head - I think it was Uncle Daniel cause he was shouting the loudest that "Avril's birthday so she must wear hat!"

Then we posed to take pics of the cake.

And everyone got busy eating it.

And then everyone got tired.

So everyone got ready to go home.

And then just as they started to walk out the door... they remembered that I had not yet opened -
MY BIRTHDAE PREZENTS!!!
So they all trooped back in, and sat around and let me choose which one I wanted to open first.
There were so many colorful prezents!

Soft toys!
And a rabbit book!
And a strawbewi shortcake dress!
And a rashguard!
And and ..

Ok lar, I better not say everything I got or else all my fwens might get jealous.

All in all, I had an awesome birthdae!

I feel so loved by Mummy and Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa and Por por, and everyone....and I even got wishes on Facebook by my friends! *happy*

Don't try to bully me, I am a big gal already, OK?

I am ONE YEARS OLD.

Just one Step at a Time ~ 8 Feb 10

Da-Shu David just stepped into the house back from his business trip! When I let him carry me, he was so so happi. He had a lot of strange smells on him cause he just got back from the airport.
We took several pics together while waiting to go out for dinner.
Then he wanted me to show him how I can stand already. I threw in a few jumps for good measure.
When he carried me, there was something hard pressing at my arm, so I turned around to check what was it. It was some funny leather thing in his pocket. I tried and tried to pull it out but it was stuck! :(
I lurve Mummy!

Oh, and Da-Shu David also gave me a coaching lesson. Here's the video if you want to see - Lesson One in the Art of Graceful Walking!

PS. I'm turning one year old in less than a week! Yippie!!!

I'm Seeck ~ 28 Mar 10

I feel weird.

First I feel cold.
And then hot.
And then cold.
And then I dono what I am feeling.

I don't know what to make of it. Mummy tries to talk to me soothingly and reassuringly, but I can tell she's worried about something. She brought me to the doctor yesterday as well, because I started feeling funny since yesterday morning. And the doc mentioned about a viral infecsion or sumthing.

But yesterday was still considered OK.

Today was worse.

Mummy and Gu-Gu Em kept wrapping wet towels around my neck and arms, at random moments of the day. They said it was because my fever was "too high." I was watching my DVD about alfabats, so I didn't really bother about what they were doing. It was just sometimes a little uncumfortible.

Gu-gu Em took this pic of me during one of the towel-wrapping sessions. (The green towel around my neck makes me look like the char quay teow uncle right??)  She said I was a good girl, a brave little soldier.

I don't see what's the big deal actually.

For the most part, I still found things funny, and laughed, and played with my toys in my playpen with Gu-Gu Em.
The only thing I didn't like was when they kept poking some plastic metal-tipped stik under my arm every half-hour or so. It was soooo irritating!!!

OH, and I hate Hate HATE it when they try to give me the liquid medicine.

Firstly, who likes to be force-fed??? The indignity of that alone is too much. And secondly, it tastes awfoo. (Well, maybe it doesn't taste as BAD as I'm making it sound, but if I can get Mummy to think that it's wealllli gross, she might not make me have to eat it!  Well, that's the plan la.)

Anyway.. I'm getting pretty groggy right now. I just wanna sleep and sleep and sleeeeeep. Hopefully Mummy and Grandma Kim don't wake me up again in the middle of the night to put wet towels on me!

7 Feb 10 ~ The Sights, Tastes, and Sounds of Bugis Junction

It was a warm Sunday afternoon.
I was sleepy-fussy and supposed to be getting ready for nap time.
But we were in Bugis. Mummy was shopping.
And Bugis, as everyone knows, is ALWAYS a hustle and a bustle.
Colors, smells, sounds, constantly changing scenes...who would be able to think about sleeping???
So, I went exploring instead.
Grandma Kim brought me to touch something whitish-greyish, see-through. It was the first time I saw something like that.
When I touched it, I got a shock! It had such a queer feeling in my hand, I don't know how to describe it!
But I liked it!
Some droplets splashed all over me and Grandma Kim, but we didn't care. The two of us just laughed and screamed and played and had a good time.
Then Daddy carried me for awhile, and made me laugh some more with some funny thing he did.
Then, I tried some cole, wet thing that Mummy ordered at Macs.
Just one lick...
And Daddy wanted one lick too...
And then I got it all over my mouth..
And then we all took another lick together!

I wonder how many people can lick one ice-cream cone at the same time? Maybe next time when my baby sis or bro comes, we still will be able to fit one or two more small persons into the pic also. I shall remind Mummy that we take another pic liddat again in a few months time.

6 Feb 10 ~ A is for Achievement

I have discovered a new mode of travel - speed crawling.

When Gu-Gu Em came home from work yesterday and had me in her arms like one minute after she entered the house, she asked how come my legs and hands felt cold.
She didn't know it was because I had been crawling on the floor the whole day, but I purposely didn't tell her at first...
Until she put me down on the floor...
...and then I stunned her by clapping and laughing and crawling all around the place!
Time for the show to begin~
Off I go. My Next Mission: To get to the studyroom.
I'm still trying to make sure my hands meet every time I clap them together. It takes a bit of practice.
It's the little things in life which are the real ones after all.

Soon, very soon, I'm gonna be W-A-L-K-I-N-G!!! I can't wait. (:
